Class Descriptions
Mixed Media
This course is designed to teach the student to draw with pencil and charcoal, paint with watercolor, acrylic and pastels, hand build with clay, and work in mosaics and decoupage with traditional materials and found objects. Because this course employs many materials and art/craft techniques, not only does it educate it also stimulates and maintains student interest.
Drawing and Painting
This course is designed to teach your child to draw with pencil and charcoal, paint with watercolor, acrylic and/or pastels. They will use still life setups, go outdoors to do landscape and use each other/photographs to learn portraiture.
Pottery Wheel
(Please Note: The minimum age for the pottery wheel is 8 years) Throwing clay on the potter’s wheel helps your child develop their eye/hand coordination while teaching them the satisfying craft of creating simple cylinder forms to more challenging pieces such as bowls, mugs and teapots.
Clay Hand Building
Your child will be able to express their creativity through hand building projects with clay. Only their imagination will limit them. Teachers will provide the techniques for working with clay and project ideas.
Important Information
1. A student may join the semester after it starts – they will be prorated to the end.
2. Missed classes can only be made-up. Makeup classes must occur within the current semester.
3. There are no refunds or credits for any reason after a semester begins, unless Haven Art is responsible.
4. A group of three or more students have the opportunity to start and help design their own course.
5. Private instruction is available with individual artists in all media at $60 per hour and semi-private (2 students) at $90 per hour (good for parent/child).
6. All siblings receive a 10% discount.
