Working From Life/The Figure, Ground and Still Life. Helena Clare Pittman, Galen Pittman, Instructors.

This painting/drawing class focuses on representing the figure in its architectural setting, the classroom. In this class we explore the tones, forms and color that make up the figure as well as the space around it. Learning to loosen up is a significant part of our exploration.

We also focus on the elements that make for a strong picture. Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Seurat and Degas are some of the inspirations for this class, artists who have used the figure as monumental elements in their compositions.

Bring charcoal and conte crayon and an 18 X 24 drawing pad for gesture drawings. Use pastels, oils, acrylics or the medium of your choice for longer poses. One on one instruction. Bring any questions you may have about materials to class. Model fee is dependent on class size.
