Jackie and Tom Kello opened Haven Art in September 2001. Its focus since inception is to nurture the creative process of artists on Long Island, a multi-cultural suburb that lies just east of New York City with dynamism all its own. Haven Art has grown into an incubator for passionate emerging artists that have found their studio homes here. Their work can be found in the gallery and in the shop, Le Petite Cadeau.
Haven Art is housed in a 5,000 sq. ft.,
warehouse that is a collection of studios with an open floor
plan, inspiring open minds. It
is located at the end of the Long Island Rail Road station
in historic Port Washington, just forty minutes out of Penn
Station, Directions.
The gallery welcomes visitors and gives them an opportunity to view and purchase the work of these artists. The studios beckon you to join in some energetic art play. The philosophy at Haven Art is that the process of doing art can be as valuable as the product.
Haven Art has small, flexibly scheduled classes and available studio time in sculpture, pottery, beading, needlework, and painting and drawing for both adults and children. The Colby Glass Studio, located within Haven Art, offers classes and studio time in glass blowing, lampworking, slumping and fusing. All of the facility’s teachers are educated, working artists who enjoy passing their techniques along. At Haven Art, the aim is to meet you where you are and support you in your development as an artist, no matter what your age or level of experience.
Haven Art is expanding.
